John Matze, Partner, CTO, Storage Guru

John Matze has spent 20 years as an executive, visionary and frequent product award winner in the storage industry. He is a co-inventor of iSCSI and an acclaimed thought-leader in storage virtualization. He is pioneering the use of Advanced Data Reduction for application and virtual machine storage.

John is the founder and CEO of BridgeSTOR, a Cloud Access company providing access to Cloud Storage by converting existing storage protocols into Cloud-based protocols, thereby allowing existing Windows and Linux-based applications to easily access Cloud Storage.

John was the founder and CEO of Siafu Software, a storage appliance innovator that led the industry in delivering enterprise-level virtualization, IP SAN connectivity and advanced security to small and medium-sized companies. Hifn, Inc. acquired Siafu in 2007 and appointed John its vice president and CTO.

In 2009, following Hifn’s acquisition by Exar Corporation, John became Exar’s vice president of storage system products.

Prior to founding Siafu, John launched Okapi Software to bring the industry’s first dedicated data protection appliance to market. Okapi was acquired by Overland Storage in 2003 where John then acted as vice president and CTO.

John Matze, named one of the Top 25 Innovators by CRN Magazine in 2003, and a Storage Superstar in 2010, also served as director of software for Veritas Software and principal architect for STAC. John is responsible for creating award-winning products including the Overland Storage REO family, the Okapi ipXcelerator and STAC Replica for NetWare.
